Gardening

We have had some amazing gardening classes since we started our emergency preparedness journey.

This past week we were super excited to have Caleb Warnock come and speak with us.  We covered a lot of topics and he renewed my commitment to being more self sufficient while feeding my family from the garden.  I hope you enjoy his class as much as I did!

We had a great gardening class on Saturday.  It was focused on starting your own plants from seeds indoors so your plants are ready for the garden when the chance of frost has past.  Karen Jones, Becky Gough and Dianna Fillmore shared all of their tips they have learned through the years.  Their handout includes information on what seeds to plant when and directions for building your own light garden box.  It was a wonderful class and we had great participation with some very good questions.  I’ve included a video of the class and their handout below.

We have been privileged to have Linda Barclay Mount come and teach us more about seed harvesting and self-reliance gardening twice.  The first in 2010 and then in March of 2013.  Her handout and Power Point Presentation are below.

In 2009 the guys from ABCeeds came down from Oregon for our Emergency Fair. I loved (yes loved, they are no longer in business) their seeds. I am so sad. Newt Stanger taught two classes. A basic gardening class and a seed harvesting class, both were excellent! HIs handouts are attached below.
