Wheat / Wheat Grinders

It’s in your basement – but do you know what to do with it besides making bread?  Do you know how to make bread?  We’ve held a couple of classes focused entirely on wheat.  Don’t wait for an emergency to use it!  I was pretty nervous to dive into bread making, my mom made bread once a week when I was young, she even gave me my own round pan and piece of dough to make my own loaf.  Unfortunately by the time I got serious about making bread I was terrified.  Luckily for me I have an awesome neighbor who came over and held my hand to get me through my first batch of bread from grinding my wheat to taking my beautiful loaves out of the oven.  I’ve gotta say, it feels pretty darn good and smells even better!  If you’ve been putting it off, GO FOR IT.  If you need to, find your own “Sister Densley” and make an afternoon of it.  Your family will love you for it!

After 5 years of focusing on emergency prep. I realized I was guilty of one of the things I hate most about peoples attitude towards emergency prep.  I was burying my head in the sand.  I didn’t want to deal with the fact that the $50 hand wheat grinder that was still in its box buried in my basement was NOT going to cut it!  I needed to do the research, weigh my options and get a hand wheat grinder that was cut out to do the job.  Realizing I was probably not the only one who was “sand snorkeling” we held a class focused on finding the correct hand wheat grinder.  Not everyone has the same needs or the same budget so we compared several different grinders for our class.  Watch the video and see what you think.  I of course now have my favorite hand and electric grinder.  It was painless and the fresh air is awesome 🙂

Tami Girsberger and Kris Kemper did a great job teaching our Wheat Grinder class!
